2011 All for 1 Community Sale a HUGE Success!!!

Dear Donors, Volunteers, and Shoppers,

The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church All for 1 Sale committee members would like to extend a sincere thank you for all those that contributed by donating, volunteering and shopping!  Our pre-sales were quite successful this year.  Thanks to some advance notice by our partners in service, we were able to fill some wish lists before the public sale began.

·         A new church received high chairs for their fellowship hall.
·         A special education teacher shopped for a student at her school that was in need of warmer clothes.
·         A clean energy advocate received a bike trailer to minimize her carbon footprint while performing volunteer work and shopping for groceries.
·         A new teacher received schoolbooks for her title I classroom.
·         Victims of the recent flooding in Alexandria, VA shopped to replace ruined items.
·         Working families were able to purchase clothing and household goods.

Thank you for donating items to make it possible to serve others!  We are trying to keep this effort going year round.  If you know of someone in need, please email the webmaster at beth.samec@gmail.com or our wonderful leader Liz Murphy at Murphyzil@verizon.net.  All for 1 is maintaining a needs list and when we have a “match”, we will arrange pickup or delivery.

We had some new partners this year and a big shout-out goes to:
Holy Comforters, S.A.L.T., Sensational Baby, Lake Braddock Secondary School, and the Hispanic Ministry Group

All for 1 also raised nearly $5000 to benefit various missions within the POP Community with volunteers contributing over 730 hours to the effort!  What a blessing to know that as good stewards of the earth we came together to recycle, reuse, and repurpose!  Please consider subscribing to our blog.

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Mathew 22:39

The BIG Day is hours away!

WOW!!!  After weeks of hard work and anticipation, the big day is just mere hours away!  Thank you to all that have volunteered their time, talents and biceps to our great community event.  Thank you as well to our generous donors...without you this sale would not be possible.  For those of you that fit in both categories, well a hip, hip hooray to you!!!  Please invite your friends to volunteer or shop.  We are still accepting donations (especially of larger furniture items) at the trailer in front of the church.  The sale begins at 8:00 a.m. with no early birds please, and goes until 1:00 p.m.  Have a blessed day and enjoy this beautiful weather!

WE <3 our volunteers!!!!  Thank you :)

HELP WANTED :)

Do you want to support our work in the All for 1 Community Sale?  We are specifically looking for volunteers to help transfer items from the trailer and other storage areas to areas within the church.  Rooms will be organized based on categories such as household items, women's clothing, baby/children needs, collectibles, books/DVDs/CDs and others.  The work will begin on Wednesday of this week and continue until the day after the sale.  We need volunteers to work the day of the sale by assisting and checking out shoppers.  After the sale concludes, we will need volunteers to help with clean up and boxing up of the remainders so that the charity truck can pick it up.  However, a HUGE need RIGHT NOW are people with trucks willing to pick up larger furniture pieces to sell at our event.  If you feel led to volunteer, please contact Liz or me at Murphyzil@verizon.net or beth.samec@gmail.com.

One more week until the opening of our
All for 1 Community Sale!!!
I stopped by the trailer to drop off some newly donated items…wow!  It is organized, packed and filled with items that are sure to fulfill the needs of shoppers!  Some of the items I saw there yesterday:
  • Homecoming dresses
  •  Halloween costumes and decoration
  • Oil paintings
  • Brand new still in the package toys, DVDs, household items, hardware items & school supplies
  • Decorative items, including some neat ones for Dallas Cowboys & Colt fans J
  •  Small furniture items*

*We have promises for larger furniture items for the sale.  We have asked donors to wait to drop off or arrange for pickup closer to the sale date due to the limited space.  Last year we had an entryway bench, kitchen table and chairs, bookshelves, coffee tables and other useful items.  I am dropping off another load of donations today, including brand new holiday decorations and scrapbooking supplies!  Tell your friends and family to shop the All for 1 Community Sale!!  Remember, to check our donation hours if you have something you would like to donate.  We also provide a receipt for your donationJ.

Remember…anyone can donate, volunteer and shop!!

We are so blessed!  Today I picked up a light fixture and DVD player that are still in their boxes along with so many other wonderful and useful items.  This family is renovating their house and has been incredibly generous to donate these items to our All for 1 Community Sale!

Great items being donated, sorted & displayed every day!

Wow!!  We are just amazed at the generosity of the Prince of Peace community.  The trailer donated by Interstate Van Lines of Springfield is filled with treasures of all kinds!  There are clothes with the tags still attached, suits in dry cleaning bags, decorative items brought back from international travels, tools, furniture and even a great selection of "smalls" like jewelry.  There is something for everyone.  We even have an entire storage area of holiday items for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Please spread the word about this incredible event (even the pets will be happy based on the box of gently used and brand new leashes, toys and doggie sweaters)!
